Harbour Thread, a clothing and accessories boutique originally from Burlington, Vermont, has officially opened its second location in St. Petersburg.
Harbour Thread sits inside a 2,447-square-foot retail space in the Grand Central District at 40 22nd St. S. Owner Llyndara Harbour said the brand originally started as a footwear boutique – in Burlington – more than 20 years ago
“There wasn’t a good shoe store nearby; I was presented with a market that had an obvious need,” Harbour said. “I had put myself through school working retail, so it felt like a very natural decision.”
Harbour said she brought the brand to St. Pete because her partner is from Florida, and she felt she could tailor her “elevated bohemian” style to suit the store and the local customer base.
“He is third-generation Tampa Bay, so we have deep roots to the area,” she said. “I actually have vintage photos hung in the store, of his family fishing and boating in the area. We love it here.”
Harbour Thread currently stocks a broad range of women’s and gift items, with plans to expand into menswear soon.
The store currently sells women’s clothing, shoes and accessories, along with home decor, swimwear and gifts; however, plans are in the works to expand the store with a range of men’s clothing, shoes and accessories.
Harbour Thread carries boutique brands like Stillwater and ASTR The Label, and regional brands like Shore from Key West. The boutique also stocks items from local artisans, including candles and jewelry.
“It is important to me that Harbour Thread is genuinely part of the community,” Harbour explained. “We have already connected with a handful of local artisans and vendors whose products we are selling, but that is the part of the business that I am most excited to grow.”
Harbour Thread is open Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
