In case you need any more convincing that oversized hobo bags are making a full comeback, Bella Hadid’s Coach bag will help tip the scales. The model was just spotted wearing Coach’s latest Brooklyn Bag, an XXL slouchy tote, not once or twice, but four times this week. Any accessory seen on the model tends to quickly find its way onto the arms of other early adopters and we wouldn’t be surprised to see more Brooklyn sightings (look out, The Row’s Margaux). After all, Bella converted us from the Adidas Sambas to Sl 72 in one retro-chic paparazzi shot.
Lately, Bella has doubled down on her signature style, firmly establishing her as the poster child of the Noughties and 00s aesthetic. She’s since added the Brooklyn Bag to her handbag repertoire, pairing the new style from Coach’s AW24 collection with graphic baby tanks and pedal pushers.
It certainly helps that the Coach bag features a minimalist silhouette that goes with dressy, kitten-heeled looks and baggy, sporty looks alike. If the style feels familiar, that’s because Coach creative director Stuart Vever designed the bag to have a “love-worn” appeal, and it indeed reminds us of the fits-everything carryalls worn by Sienna Miller and Gwyneth Paltrow that we collectively fell in love with in the 90s.
For those of us who may not be able to shell out on an oversized tote by The Row, the Brooklyn Bag’s relatively affordable luxury price point of under £500 could feel refreshingly attainable. Crafted from a natural grain leather, it is available in two sizes, both of which are surprisingly capacious with the larger one fitting a 15-inch laptop.
Given TikTok’s voracious appetite for all things retro, you can bank on the bag flying off shelves now that it’s received the Bella Hadid stamp of approval.
